The high quality of the three images showcased in the ESO GigaGalaxy
Zoom project makes it possible to produce amazing exhibition panels.
ESO is currently producing 50 sets of the three laminated images of
sizes, respectively, 150 x 224 cm, 150 x 300 cm, and 150 x 262 cm.
These will be sent in December to European-based science centres,
museums, planetariums, nature centres and other informal education
venues that successfully applied to receive one of these sets. We
thank all the centres that applied for this, and apologise to those
we could not provide a positive answer.
The successful centres will hold an image-unveiling event and display
the image prints for an extended period. More information about these
events will be provided in due time on either this site or the ESO
main site.
In addition, the giant scale of the images means they can be printed
at a very large scale, covering areas of 50 square metres or more.
This is a unique opportunity to highlight astronomy in unusual
places, such as the centre of a town or on the front of a famous
building. Anyone interested in developing such a project in their
region should contact ESO, and particularly the ESO exhibition
coordinator, Ed Janssen (ejanssen@eso.org), to develop the idea further.
